In 2018, the North Western Primary Health Network NWMPHN) provided funding to respond to the identified local need of four local government areas of Bacchus Marsh, Macedon Ranges, Melton and Sunbury in response to a growing need of support to young people, aged 12-25 years who are experiencing difficulty with mental health issues and co-occuring complexity such as alcohol and drug issues. The target group seeks to engage those who are most vulnerable to ongoing and enduring mental health issues and disadvantage.
The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health (Orygen) leads the consortium of partners from the identified regions, formed to collectively respond to the growing need for young people. These partners include:
- CoBAW Community Health
- Djerriwarrh Health Services
- Odyssey House Victoria
- Orygen Youth Health Service
- Sunbury Community Health
- Youth Support and Advocacy Service
- Headspace Melton
This position will be embedded within Djerriwarrh Health Services, focusing on our identified catchment area. The role will seek to engage in a community of practice amongst the other three areas and existing Enhanced Care Coordinators within the NWPHN region, with supervision and oversight by the Lead Psychiatrist.
Successful applicants will have:
- Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
- Extensive experience in the planning and provision of mental health care, as it relates to young people, their families and communities.
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, government policies and strategic directions in relation to mental health and alcohol and other substances, particularly as it relates to young people.
Djerriwarrh Health Services is a dynamic and rapidly expanding public health service providing Acute, Community, Maternity and Aged Care to the City of Melton and Shire of Moorabool in Melbourne's Western suburbs.
